Formula 10.0.6 was created by a chemist in 1933 and at first was
only distributed by pharmacists. Over the years they have expand their line and
added products to treat blemishes and more recently masks. The brand prides
themselves in targeting young skin and providing clear skin at affordable
prices.
The brand is not only good quality and affordable but also
cruelty free. From the brand “Yes Formula 10.0.6 is cruelty free and we do not
test on animals and require the same policy from our suppliers”.
I have been communicating with the brand since I was lucky
enough to receive some of their products in exchange of my honest opinion. I have been testing their products for about two months now and I enjoy most of them. Here's a compilation of the reviews I have made on their masks (published on my Instagram account), so far I have tried seven and I really like them. For reference, I am 34 years old and I have combination skin (normal with oily T-zone).
Deep Down Detox Ultra-Cleansing Mud Mask
About the detox mask: Instructions say to apply a thin layer on freshly washed and dried face and neck and let it dry for 10-15 minutes then remove with luck warm water.
For the first couple of minutes after application I had a tingling sensation but it wasn't burning nor painful then it disappeared. After 10 minutes the mask was completely dry and I could see how tight my skin was, I got pretty scared and thought I would have rough/dry skin after removing the mask but it was the complete opposite, my skin was hydrated and smooth. I started wondering how this could be and went to check the ingredient's list! I saw there's couple of alcohols, those were in charge of drying the mask. Sea salt helped clean the pores bringing out the toxins out of the skin. Then I saw the mask also contains aloe juice extract (aloe is know for its hydration benefits), orange oil (which has anti-inflammatory properties as well as helps boost collagen production which is involved in reducing fine lines) and bergamot oil (which helps purify the skin as well as sooth any irritations). The full size mask contains 3.4 oz and retails for $6.99 at Ulta. Overall I'm very impressed, I'll definitely include it on my skincare rotation ๐
Pores Be Pure Skin-Clarifying Mud Mask
Same instructions as for the detox mask, apply a thin layer onto freshly cleaned skin let sit for 10-15 minutes and remove with warm water. After application I felt a tingling sensation, it was a little strong (I would give it a 5 in a 1-10 scale, 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest) but it disappeared after the first couple of minutes. The mask dried out completely (due to the alcohols present in the formulation) but after I removed it my skin is feeling as soft as my baby's skin
. Let's take a look at the ingredients: there are couple of clays, kaolin and bentonite. Then we have stearic acid which is a lipid widely used in the production of soaps and it's function is to soften. Tocopherol which is a form of vitamin E, which is know for its antioxidant properties. Strawberry fruit extract (rich in vitamin C, helping clarifying the skin), yarrow extract (which has clarifying properties as well) and rosemary leaf extract (rich in antioxidants, helping purify the skin). I'm trilled with how smooth my skin feels after this mask. I'd say it's a must in my skincare rotation from now on. Full size (3.4 oz) available at ulta for $6.99
P.S. This mask contains parabens in case you want to avoid them. I asked the brand why does this mask contain parabens and they said it's an old formulation and they are currently working on it to remove the parabens without disturbing the performance of the product. It's their only mask with parabens!
Be Berry Clear Illuminating Peel Mask
I applied a thin layer after washing and drying my skin. Directions on the bottle say that a tingling sensation is to be expected upon application but I didn't feel anything too bad. I left the mask dry for 15 minutes and proceeded to peel it off, from the jaw area upwards. After I removed it, I washed my face with warm water. I noticed my skin was brighter and smoother, but somewhat dry as well and I don't usually experience dryness after a mask. I went on and finished my skincare routine and my skin feels great! Not sure what to blame here for my dryness since I can usually handle alcohol denat (is one of the ingredients) containing-products.
As usual I'd like to point out some amazing ingredients: Raspberry leaf extract, Acai fruit extract and cranberry fruit are rich in antioxidants which act as skin protect ants from free radicals. Bilberry fruit/leaf extract has toner properties; sugar cane extract nourishes the skin; sugar maple extract which helps removing dead cells, and orange and lemon fruit extracts which are rich in vitamin C (used for brightening the skin). Finally, I'd like to point out that Polyvinyl alcohol is a polymer used to form the "plastic film" (what you're going to peel after you're done with the mask). I think this mask would be better for oily skin (so maybe you won't experience dryness). The full size of this mask is 3.4 oz, it retails for $6.99 and it's available at Ulta and select target stores
Be Berry Bright Exfoliating Mud Mask
I love multitasking products, this is a mud mask that also exfoliates and brightens the skin. Key ingredients to mention: Coffea arabica (coffee) seed powder, used as exfoliating agent (I enjoyed how gentle it was). Lycium barbarum (goji berry) and Vaccinium macrocarpun (cranberry) fruit extracts which are packed with antioxidants. Euterpe oleracea (aรงaรญ) fruit extract, also rich in antioxidants and healthy fatty acids that help restore skin cells.
I applied the mask after cleansing my face, left it on for 15 minutes after which I added a little bit of water to massage my face thoroughly, then rinsed off with warm water. The smell was very pleasant, somewhat fruity. After using it my skin feels soft, moist and is brighter. I'd recommend this mask to anyone that wants clean, soft, happy skin.
Be Berry Fresh Balancing Mud Mask
Another mud mask that I loved! Main ingredients are: Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtilus) fruit extract which contains anthocyanosides (a type of antioxidants that help to prevent cell damage) and vitamin C, helping protect and nourishing the skin. Neroli or bitter orange (Citrus aurantium amara) flower oil has antiseptic properties and works in maintaining moisture levels and balancing the skin.
After application I let it work for 15 minutes, it dried off completely but my face never felt dehydrated, I then rinsed it off with warm water. My skin feels super soft, bright and nourished. ¡I must say so far this is my favorite mud mask!
In summary, it's a great mask to nourish and balance your skin and I'll repurchase it.
P.S. People sensitive to fragance might want to use it with caution since it's heavily scented (it reminded me of sweet blackberry, which I love).
Get Your Glow On Skin-Brightening Peel Mask
This peel mask has a sweet smell that reminded me a little of papaya (one of my fav fruits ever), the gel is quite sticky and a little goes a long way. Upon application I felt a tingling sensation (not painful) that disappeared quickly. After removing the mask my skin felt soft and was brighter.
The key ingredients are: citrus (citrus grandis seed extract, grapefruit) packed with antioxidants and vitamin C helps to brighten the skin. Carica papaya (papaya) fruit extract is packed with vitamins A, E and C which help protect and brighten the skin. It also contains papain, an enzyme that helps clean the skin and unclogged pores. Overall I think this is a good mask and would work for every skin type.
P.S. The only thing that discourages me a little from this mask is that the ingredients that they highlight as the key ones Papaya and Citrus) are not at the top of the ingredient's list.
Keep Your Cool Skin-Calming Mask
I'm pleasantly surprised with this mask. First off, it smells amazing (that is if you like cucumber). It has a creamy consistency and goes on the face smoothly. The gel has a baby blue color but once it dries out is completely colorless. The ingredients' list is short which is nice, let's talk about a few of them: Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) root extract which has soothing properties and is specially good for sensitive skin. Cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract, rich in vitamin C, minerals and antioxidants is a great moisturizing agent. Cocos nucifera (coconut) extract is full of antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and amino acids is a power house and keeps the skin moist and bright.
I left the mask on for 20 minutes (although the package says is safe to leave on overnight), I washed it off with warm water and my skin feels moist and soft
I can definitely see myself using this mask during summer, after long days under the sun. I think this mask would be a great addition on everyone's routine!
Disclaimer: this is my honest opinion, I bought this mask with my own money. Yes, that's right! I enjoyed so much all the masks they graciously sent me for review purposes that I went on and bought some of their products myself
